Children's Sunday School

St. John’s Sunday School meets every Sunday at 9:00 A.M. from September 1st until the end of May.

Each lesson stands by itself, so children are never “behind.”

All children and grandchildren are invited to join us, along with any adults who might wish to attend.  We know it’s hard to go someplace new and always welcome helpers to make children feel more at ease. If you have children or grandchildren who would like to attend, please meet us by the side door of the church at 8:55 A.M. A teacher will be there to greet you and help you get to the room. Adults are always welcome at Adult Sunday School at 9:00 A.M. as well.

Each Sunday lesson begins with singing. Ms. Sara Davis, a talented member of our choir, teaches lively music until 9:15 A.M.

Ms. Jan Akins and Ms. Barb Peoples, seasoned teachers, then present lessons on the child’s level from “The Sunday Paper Junior”.  These lessons follow the Episcopal Church year, so adults and children will both be exploring the same Biblical teachings each week.

Around 9:25 A. M., the children are invited to complete a project that relates to the lesson.  This is often their favorite part of the morning.  We use crayons, markers, glue and glitter.

At 9:45 A.M., younger children

go to the nursery with Ms. Barb

and older children meet their parents for the regular church service.

Pictures are of some of the children’s events. Children sing

in church sometimes, participate

in annual pageants and always attend Communion.

Children over the age of 10 are invited to become acolytes and serve during the church services.  Potential Acolytes receive training from the Priest and this can be arranged at a time that is convenient for all.
